This past week was a busy one here, but as I look at my priority 5 list, I wonder what am I doing I just am not getting things done on my list. Here is my list from last week.
As I am thinking about what needs to get done this week I feel a little overwhelmed, but I also feel the need to slow down and enjoy this Christmas season. So my Priority 5 list is going to do both things this week.
- Do 1-2 sessions in Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace Seminar.
- Work on my research paper for my college class. I would love to get this done this week.
- Make Christmas cookies with the kids. The kids have been wanting to do this for about a week now.
- Go out for our annual Christmas meal at a restaurant. We pick a restaurant that we normally don't go to and enjoy a meal together as a family.
- Read Christmas books to the kids.
Today our challenge was to read chapter 5 and decide if we are going to send Christmas cards out this year. For our family we always send Christmas cards. Growing up, we didn't send cards but when I got married I started making out Christmas cards and sending them. So now we have been sending Christmas cards out for 20 years now. Some years we have sent out more than others but for the last few years we have scaled down our card list and it works quite well for us.
Every year I try to get our cards ready to go out sometime after Thanksgiving. This year was no exception and I got all the cards wrote out, addressed, stamps put on and ready to go. As of yesterday I have mailed all the ones we are going to mail. We have a handful that gets delivered at church and a couple that we hand deliver. So I am happy that the Christmas card task is done.
How about you, Are you doing Christmas cards this year?

For days 6-7 of Celebrating and Savoring a simple Christmas, we were to read chapter 4, sign up for Ebates and check out RetailMeNot.com and then take some time to stop and enjoy our weekend.
Well I read chapter 4 and I didn't sign up for Ebates or check out the other website. We normally don't order anything over the Internet so I don't figure we won't use these 2 things that much. This year we actually ordered some things from Amazon because I had some swagbucks that I turned in for Amazon gift cards, but my ordering was done before I read this.

Today's assignment was to read chapter 3 and then schedule when we will be doing our Christmas shopping and gift making.
Well we have talked it over and have made a few dates on the calendar to get some of the stuff done that we need to do. I am hoping to have everything done early this year and then enjoy the rest of the month.

Today's assignment was to read chapter 3 of Celebrating and Savoring a Simple Christmas and make a list of everything we were giving to the people on our list. After we completed that we were to evaluate what was on our list to see if it was doable and realistic.
Well we have our extended family gifts almost complete, just a little more work on those and we are finished. Our immediate family gifts are coming along. I have an idea of what we want to get our kids but I have to get with my husband to finalize the gift list and then we are finished.
How are you coming along with the challenge?
